Local Family Claims To Have Real Haunted House

While ghosts are a normal part of Halloween, one local family said their house really is haunted by the apparitions.

NBC 10 News reporter Mike Strug spoke to Peggy Nichols and her family, who live in a 200-year-old farmhouse in rural Cumberland County.

With unexplained activity, such as footsteps and voices that can be heard calling, Nichols and her family decided to call in the “ghost hunters,” also known as South Jersey Paranormal Research.
“We're not alone,” said Nichols. “We hear a lot of voices...when you know no one's here."

Last spring, NBC 10 followed the paranormal research team into a 200-year-old prison, where they said they saw orb, or what they call “spirit energy.”

Susan Bove of the paranormal research team said she could see the same kind of orbs dancing around the Nichols’ bedroom.

"I do think this place is haunted," said Bove.

Hearing that Bove also thought the house was haunted, seemed to be reassuring to Nichols. Nicols said that this means she “wasn’t crazy.”

Nichols said that she loves her house and that the spirits are visitors.

“People are just staying here,” said Nichols. “We get along.”

Strug reported that he and the NBC 10 crew never heard voices, nor did they see orbs. These things only showed up on the research team’s audio and video equipment.
