Oldies 100 morning personalities
Spider Maguire and Diane DeOlivera, center, revealed the
results of its ghost sweep with the South Jersey
Paranormal team, Debra Thornton, left, and Susan Bove
Tuesday morning.

Monday night Bove's group was invited to
investigate paranormal activity at the Oldies 100 radio
station (WJRZ) on Beach Avenue in Manahawkin. The site is
rumored to be situated on an old Indian burial ground and
employees have long believed their building to be haunted.
Chief Engineer Bill Clanton Sr., who has
worked in the building for the past 12 years, said "there were
nights when I just had to stop working and leave the
building."
"Wake Up" show co-host Dianne DeOliveira
believes that there is "apparently a little Indian boy who
likes to play with the knobs and cause computer glitches."
Bove and her co-paranormalist Deborah
Thornton claim to have found ample evidence that ghosts do
haunt the offices of the radio station.
Thornton said "the spirits were on the move
last night" during their investigation.
However, Bove claims they find evidence of
paranormal activity at 99.9 percent of the sites that they
research -- so the ghosts at Oldies 100 did not surprise her.
Bove and Thornton use audio recorders,
infrared cameras and hi-resolution digital photography to find
their spooky evidence.
Radio host Spyder Mcguire was not surprised
by the group's findings either saying that he "believe(s) in
all this stuff anyway."
However, the host admitted there may be
sceptics out there.
A creative and funny video of the late night
investigation of the radio station is available on the Oldies
100 Web site
www.oldies100fm.com.
McGuire and DeOliveira invited the
ghostbusters back to their morning radio show on Tuesday where
they had the chance to listen to ghost stories and answer
questions posed by the Oldie's audience.Jim Duncan from Ocean
Township called in and told the paranormal investigators that
he and his wife were "out one night and we came home and the
washer and the dryer were in the middle of the floor and my
wife's knick-knacks were all turned around."
Duncan later found out that a little girl
had died in his home many years ago.
Another caller told the radio hosts and the
investigators that they, "better keep them ghosts happy,"
because they might cause trouble at the station. But Bove
stressed that ghosts and spirits were usually harmless.
Bove formed the South Jersey Paranormal
Research Group in November of 2001. Since then her group has
investigated mostly private homes. She says that her group is
"the largest of its kind in this area."
Her group is registered as a non-profit that
is funded by member dues and donations and does not charge for
their paranormal investigations. They present each client with
a CD of evidence and a formal summary report of their
findings. She can be reached through her Web site at
www.sjpr.org.
Apparently the ghosts at Oldies 100 only
come out at night, as there were no disturbances during the
"Wake Up" show on Tuesday morning, but as Bove said,
"Unfortunately, spirits don't perform on command."
As the Doors and Roy Orbison played in the
background Bove walked out of the building and lit a
cigarette. It was time to head to the diner for breakfast.
