Cemeteries are thought to be more active for spirit activity due to the concentrated presence of energy expressed by emotions associated with interment of our dead. It is also believed that due to this concentration of energy, a portal is more readily available for spirits to pass into our world.

We take extra precautions when we investigate any cemetery to protect ourselves from negative or non-human spirits who may find it easier to pass through this portal. We arm ourselves with the Prayer to St. Michael, asking his protection. We also bathe ourselves in a "white light," which places us in a position to deflect negative or non-human spirit contact.
