Case Studies - Burlington County Prison Museum - Mt. Holly, NJ -  October 22, 2004

On this night, we ventured back to the Burlington County Prison Museum to hopefully collect further evidence of the men and women who have fatefully passed through the imposing front door.  You can check out our first investigation by clicking here.  On this night, we were accompanied by a producer from CN8 and reporter from the Gloucester County Times.  Once again, the spirits didn't disappoint us and we were able to collect some great evidence!

We also invited along some members of White Light Paranormal, a newly formed group, in the hopes of continuing our efforts to foster good will and a working relationship with others in the ghost community.

As a note of explanation before you review our evidence, although you might not expect to hear the voice of children in a prison, we have captured the voices of the very young during our visits to the jail.  Believe it or not, there were times when children not only visited the Burlington County Prison, but they also lived there!  From 1811 to 1887 (when the warden's housing was added to the property), the reigning warden would live within two rooms of the prison that were set aside for him and his family.  Also, when women were incarcerated, their children would often be put in a cell with their mothers until their sentences were served.  There was no child welfare system in place at the time and there may not have been family available to care for the children while their mothers were incarcerated.  The only solution was to also house the children in the jail.

We offer some of our evidence here.

This energy was captured in the Warden's Office by Investigator Nefferdorf.  This area of the prison always proves to be quite active for us. Investigator Thornton captured this orb hovering above some investigators in the prison's basement.

Investigator Groff caught this fantastic orb in the passageway that was constructed between the prison and the home that was built for the warden and his family.  From 1811 to 1887, the warden of the prison and his family were assigned two rooms within the prison in which to live.  Those two rooms are now the warden's office and the prison gift shop.    Investigator Hrycyk captured this bright orb on the first floor of the prison, which seems to be peeking around the doorway.

As Investigator Farley captures spirit energy with his video camera, Investigator Thornton took this picture of an orb in the basement.

Even before the lights were turned off, Investigator Halpin was hard at work documenting spirit activity.

EVP EVIDENCE

While investigating the prison, we sometimes encounter some spirits who are unhappy or angry.  Not surprisingly, considering where we are investigating!  In this clear audio captured by Investigator Hrycyk, you will hear a man demanding, "Get out!"   Listen

In another EVP recorded by Investigator Hrycyk, this loud, female voice cheerfully says, "Hello, Debbie!"   Listen

As explained above, children were housed within the walls of the Burlington County Prison during its operation.  While on the first floor of the prison, Investigator Thornton captured the voice of a young child saying, "Grandpa, you here?"   Listen

VIDEO EVIDENCE

Our videographer of the evening was Investigator Hrycyk who, once again, managed to captured some astonishing footage!

This clip is a rare capture, indeed!  Filmed in the prison yard, you will see ectoplasmic mist fly quickly over the heads of the investigators who are assembled, and then it dissipates.   View

In this clip, you will see a flurry of spirit activity around Investigator Bove' and an "incarcerated mannequin" in the Death Row Cell, also referred to as "The Dungeon."   View

Investigator Hrycyk managed to captured quite a bit of energy in the very active Warden's Office.   View
