Case Studies - Burlington County Prison Museum - Mt. Holly, NJ -               January 11, 2008

The spirits at the Burlington County Prison Museum never disappoint us, but man, were they active this night!  It turns out that we had a bunch of new members to train, so it was pretty cool that they got a nice dose of paranormal activity!

We also brought along with us a reporter and photographer from the Courier Post for a feature article about SJPR.  You can read the story by clicking here.  When taking the media out with us, it detracts a bit from the task at hand, but we feel it's important to help educate about our research.  Even though we may be distracted at times, the spirits still interact with us, as evidenced by some of the EVP we captured during this visit.  Not only are some of them really creepy, we captured some incredible video moments!  Be sure to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page!

Please click on the respective links to see and hear the evidence we have captured on previous visits to the jail on our First, Second, Third, and Forth trips.  We offer some of our best evidence from our latest trip here.

Here is the crew that investigated at the prison this night!

Investigator Bove' captured the action as the Courier Post photographer sets up a picture with Investigator Kurkis in the prison's basement.  And already the spirits are getting in on the activity!

Courier Post reporter, Michael Burkhart, takes a respite on the stairs in the prison basement. Investigators K. Lenkowski and Halpin were in the death row cell when they both heard something metallic hit the wall and "ping" to the floor.  A flashlight beam revealed the source - this piece of a man's belt!  It was left in the cell so as to not alter the investigative field.

Investigator Pray captured this gigantic orb over the head of Investigator Halpin in the basement, just outside the prison kitchen.

Investigator Spring smelled perfume and the air around her got very cold.  She saw something dark fly past her.  Upon reviewing her evidence, she found that this orb was captured at the same time!
Investigator DiVietro captured this dense orb in a bathroom on the second floor.  While in this bathroom, DiVietro felt dizzy and disoriented and as though he was being watched.

This picture was taken by Investigator Rosa at the same moment he recorded the voice of a female spirit!

EVP EVIDENCE

As is the case when we investigate the Burlington County Prison, we recorded many examples of spirit voices, both interactive and residual.  There were also some spirits behaving badly, but they can only be heard in our Adults Only section!

The Second Floor

This disturbing male spirit was captured by Investigator Kurkis.  Listen as he professes, "For a thousand dollars, I'd kill the wife."  This one is pretty clear!   Listen

Investigator Bove' and some of her team were investigating the Death Row Cell when Investigator Kurkis walked in to join them.  Bove' immediately sat bolt upright, sensing that a male spirit was intimidated by Kurkis and want to fight him.  In this clip, you'll hear Bove' saying, "...he wants to fight," followed by a male spirit challenging, "Yeah, hit somebody if you want!"  This one is loud and clear!   Listen

After the impression that Investigator Bove' got when Investigator Kurkis walked into the Death Row Cell, Kurkis asked the spirit why he was upset with him, to which he received the reply, "Put 'em up."  It appears this spirit really wanted a fight!   Listen

While in the Death Row Cell, an orb was captured on video touching one of our investigators.  At the same time, this voice was captured saying, "We go back to work right here."   Listen

Captured on the second floor by Investigator Rogozin is this raspy male voice stating, "Not my victim caught in the hallway."  It's pretty haunting, considering where it was recorded!   Listen

This one is creepy!  While sitting in the death row cell, Investigator Kurkis asked aloud if anyone wanted to communicate.  A man can then be heard saying, "Brian Dunlap and my cellmate, Pat Torres."  The spirit voice in this one is not very loud, but it is very clear.   Listen

While investigating the double-wide cell, known as The Common Room, Investigator Bove' captured these spirit voices interacting with each other.  As if talking about the SJPR team, the male spirit says, "They all seem buzzed," and then he sighs.  A female then agrees, "Oh, yeah."  We can assure you that the team was quite sober!   Listen

Also in the Common Room, this EVP was recorded by Investigator Bove'.  A woman states, "You're the tall lady."   Listen

Still in the Common Room, Investigator Bove' and her team were observing a moment of silence when she recorded this challenging male voice saying, "Hey, boy."   Listen

Investigator Rogozin recorded this male spirit informing the rest of us, "Riots seem fun."  It's the same in every prison, isn't it?   Listen

While on the second floor, Investigator Kurkis captured this young female spirit asking, "Can we stand right here?"   Listen

The Main Floor

The Warden's Office is usually pretty active when we investigate!  Investigator Kurkis captured this older male voice stating, "Billy Bob was murdered."   Listen

This female spirit's voice was recorded on the main floor of the prison by Investigator Rogozin.  She invitingly says, "Welcome home."   Listen

Investigator Bove' was in the Women's Wing when she recorded this really angry-sounding male spirit commanding, "Right now!!"   Listen

This female spirit informed Investigator Rogozin, "No, she's hurt."   We hope she made a complete recovery!   Listen

While sitting quietly with her team in the Warden's Office, Investigator Bove' recorded this frustrated male spirit saying, "Damn it!"   Listen

Just two minutes after recording the above EVP, Investigator Bove' captured this angry male spirit commanding, "Get down!  Now you have to pay!"   Listen

While in the corridor on the main floor, Investigator Bove' picked up this animated male voice calling, "Bobby!"   Listen

The Basement

Ok, on a scale of 1 to 10, this rates as an 11 on the "Creep Factor Scale!"  Investigator Bove' was in the "Icky Hallway," that is, the hallway in the basement where two murders occurred.  She was setting up for a shot with the Courier Post photographer and was placing her recorder on a railing in the icky hallway.  You'll hear her say she is "...placing it right here."  A male voice then informs her, "And we'll be watching."  Yikes, right?   Listen

Within the same minute that the above EVP was captured, Investigator Bove's recorder also picked up this extremely clear, raspy male voice saying, "Kids...this lad's got good ears...kids."   Listen

Still within the same minute as the two previous EVP, Investigator Bove' caught this exchange:  You'll hear an investigator say "Flash" as he takes a picture.  A young man then says, "Soldier here," to which a woman affirms, "I'm pretty proud of him."  Astonishingly clear!   Listen

At one point, Investigator Bove' left her recorder in the icky hallway, as her team went to the other end of the basement corridor.  With one in the hallway (no one living, that is), this male voice was recorded saying, "What a shame," followed by a strange little whistle.   Listen

This clip is pretty amazing!  While Investigator K. Lenkowski and her team were in the basement where the dining hall is located, they all heard "lots of footsteps" coming down the stairs.  At the same time, Lenkowski recorded this male voice announcing, "Chow time in 3 minutes!"   Listen

Investigator Pray captured this EVP when her team was asking questions aloud.  You'll hear an investigator ask, "How old are you?" to which a high-pitched voice replies, "Just before you."   Listen

While investigating just outside the prison workshop, Investigator Halpin picked up this female voice saying, "Don't worry about that now."   Listen

Also recorded in the basement by Investigator Bove' is this worried-sounding male spirit asking, "Who's watching me?"   Listen

VIDEO EVIDENCE

Our videographer of the evening was Investigator Weber.  All of the clips are pretty decent, but one is down right astonishing!

While her team was investigating in the Death Row Cell, you'll see an orb come out of the area near Investigator Bove's hand, which she has to her mouth.  The orb travels from her to Investigator Wells, who is sitting quietly with her eyes closed.  The audio is left in this clip so you can hear Investigator Wells state that she felt something touch her left arm, just after the spirit energy does just that!  Watch

Watch as energy comes out of the floor and travels up the door of a cell on the top floor.   Watch

Energy comes out of the wall over the head of Investigator Bove' in the Death Row Cell.  As it travels towards Investigator Wells, it dissipates into a mist.   Watch

A burst of energy on the second floor of the prison stops as abruptly as it had begun!   Watch
