Case Studies - Historical House - Marcus Hook, PA - June 23, 2007

Ah, the Plank House!  So rich in folklore, so tucked away is this precious piece of tangible American history in the Boro of Marcus Hook, PA.  This historical house has quickly become one of our favorite places to go.  We are afraid, though, that it may soon be gone forever, as it is still in real danger of being torn down!  If you would like to help save The Plank House, please contact the Friends of the Plank House at www.bbplankhouse.com.  They need funding, volunteers, and those who would be a voice for a building that can't speak for itself.  Well, maybe  that's not entirely true...this house talks to us all the time!

Once again, the house of Black Beard's mistress did not disappoint us!  We gathered a lot of evidence and once again encountered a young girl in the attic!  We also have some amazing photographs of footprints and a handprint in the attic!  To experience the evidence we gathered from previous trips to the Plank House, just click on the respective links:                                        First   Second   Third

Investigator Tornatore was in the living room and his fellow investigator, Bob Jonas, was just in the other room.  All of a sudden, a large piece of debris flew out of the fire place, narrowly missing Investigator Tornatore...it ended up hitting the wall just beyond where he was standing.  In this clip, you'll hear the actual event of the debris hitting the wall.  Now, not that his fellow investigator would throw anything at him, but you'll hear Investigator Tornatore making sure as he asks, "Hey, Bob, did you just throw something?"  Before Bob has a chance to answer, a male spirit says, "No...not Bob!"  This is a pretty amazing EVP!   Listen

Investigator Lewandowski was talking to the spirit aloud about the above incident, asking if they would do it again or knock on a wall.  A child then warns, "Can't insult me!"  Just goes to show that ghosts don't perform on command!   Listen

This loud female voice was captured by Investigator Halpin as everyone was readying their equipment for the investigation!  Even though there are investigators talking in this clip, the woman is loudly heard asking, "Where's Susan our friend?"   Listen

For the second time this night, Investigator Halpin recorded a spirit saying Investigator Bove's name!  While in the basement, Investigator Halpin asked for a name, to which a young child replies, "Susan."   Listen

When Investigator Bove's team was looking for the footprints in the dust of the attic floor, she recorded two male voices, one right after the other.  The first says, "It's in this room."  The second says, "I've seen her too."  Could they have been talking about the young female spirit who left the prints?  The voices are clipped separately to be heard more clearly.   First   Second 

In this clip, recorded by Investigator Tornatore in the attic, you'll hear a woman ask, "Wanna give me your look?"  to which a man replies, "Twenty dollars?"  It may lend credence to the fact the house was used for a time as a brothel.   Listen

Still in the attic and feeling a presence nearby, Investigator Tornatore can be heard asking, "Do you mind that we're here?"  As female spirit assures, "You'll be no trouble."   Listen

At the very start of her investigation in the basement, Investigator Bove' turned on her recorder and captured this female spirit saying, "Come and help me."  During her time in the basement, Investigator Bove' had received imagery of a young woman who was being imprisoned in the basement.   Listen

Just second after recording the above EVP, Investigator Bove' captured what sounds like the same woman asking, "Why don't they tell me?"  There is another voice immediately following empathizing, "I know."   Listen

Capturing what sounds like the same woman again, just one minute later, she says, "You're making it up."   Listen

Still in the basement, Investigator Bove' recorded a woman asking, "How've you been?"  What is really cool about this one is that Investigator Bove' audibly heard the voice!   Listen

While in the attic, Investigator Tornatore was sensing a young girl near him and he got the name "Sarah."  He asked aloud, "Is that you?" to which a sultry young female responds, "Mm-mmm," in the affirmative.   Listen

While investigating the living room, Investigator Tornatore captured this EVP of a young child yelling, "Sarah, stop!"   Listen

While in the attic, Investigator Bove's team kept hearing audible spirit voices.  In this clip, you will hear a male spirit say, "Come here."  Investigator Bove' then asks guest investigator Darlene if she had said something, which she had not.   Listen

As her team in the attic was going through some relaxation exercises, Investigator Bove' recorded this helpful male voices suggesting, "Free yourself!"   Listen

This strange little exchange was recorded by Investigator Bove' in the living room.  You'll hear a man say, "Hey, baby," followed by a weird noise.  An exasperated woman then says, "Oh, God."   Listen

Investigator Halpin's team had heard knocking in the basement when she captured this male voices whispering, "That's not me."   Listen
