So you have a ghost... You've heard footsteps or other noises that cannot be explained. Maybe you have even heard disembodied whispers or felt something touch you. You think your house has a ghost! Maybe it does. Maybe it doesn't. You should not be afraid, however. If a spirit is trying to make contact, it is more than likely harmless. I have never seen a headline in a newspaper that someone was killed by a ghost! As a researcher, I have come to learn there are spirits all around us. Some people are more sensitive to them than others. The more attention you give to it, the more sensitive you will become. To borrow an analogy from another member of SJPR, imagine you are at a party, and you are the only one who speaks English. You feel isolated and cannot communicate very well. Suddenly, from across the room, you hear someone else speaking English. Ah! Someone to talk to! You begin to gravitate toward that person so that you can have some meaningful dialogue, or at least shoot the breeze! It is the same situation with a spirit. It is hanging around for whatever reason, and it wants to communicate. Since you are not on the same plane, communication is difficult, but it does not stop the spirit from trying to get your attention. When you give recognition to the spirit, it will gravitate to you and try harder to communicate. The events that have led you to believe you have a ghost are likely to increase. So what should you do? It depends on what you want. If you do not like the idea of sharing your space with a spirit, you can address the spirit by asking it to leave...nicely, but firmly. Explain that it's just not working out for you, and that it should move on. Encourage it to look upward, into the light. Tell it that is where it belongs. That may be all it needs to move on. You should also invoke the help of God. For instance, you could say, "In the name of Jesus (or insert your Deity), I command you to go where God tells you to go". I found that it worked for me when I had an entity in my home that scared the dog and other humans in the house. I told the spirit that enough was enough and that it had to leave. I invoked the help of Jesus, commanding the spirit to leave and go where God told it to go. It left within seconds after having spent the better part of two weeks with us. Afterward, just try to forget it. Ignore any other attempts the spirit may make to get itself noticed. You have done your part. Do not under any circumstances try to contact the spirit by use of a Ouija board or séance. You will invite troubled spirits that are not easily convinced to leave by doing so. If you have tried the technique as described in the former paragraph and you are still troubled by adventurous spirits, you can probably find a paranormal investigative group nearby where you live to help find out why it will not move on. If, on the other hand, having a resident or visiting spirit appeals to you, you can co-exist peacefully. If you are well-adjusted and not bothered by the spirit, then you can be assured that the spirit is friendly and content right where it is. More than likely, it is the spirit of a higher level that has made the transition through the light to God but has the ability to visit our world. There are safe ways to make contact. I would not suggest attempting contact, however, under any circumstance unless you take precautions. I discourage trying to make contact with any spirit if you do not have some training in how to do so safely. When SJPR attempts contact with a spirit, we always appoint a "gatekeeper", a spirit we know to be protective and good, such as Saint Michael the Archangel, who was victorious over Satan and his demons. It is essential that you ask other good and wholesome spirits for protection against any negative spirit that may try to make contact. You can also ask your own guardian angel or spirit guides for protection. Only after you are sufficiently protected, should you proceed. Better yet, seek the help of someone experienced in spirit contact instead of trying this on your own. |
